Valley Cycles is owned and run by Stephen Ames, a mechanical engineer by trade and a cycling enthusiast.

Stephen has been riding actively since 2008 and since then he has developed a keen interest in both the bikes that he rides, as well as being a regular participant in regional races. He has competed in mountain bike races, triathlons and more recently in road racing events and is a founding and active member of the highly successful Specialised Mavericks racing team. He has also enjoyed several long distance rides including Lands End to John O’Groats and Trans Malaysia Express.

Stephen has links with many of the local racing teams and works on bikes from across the cycling community.

In 2015 Stephen completed the Pro Bike Mechanics workshop as run by www.BikeSchoolAsia, a course aimed at equipping bike shop mechanics with the skills necessary to maintain and fix bikes.
